A bag which embodies a transformable function, acknowledging one’s various events and providing a more fruitful packing lifestyle.
Inspiration
Inspired by the busy days of New Yorkers and the heavy lifestyles they carry with them.
Users have been confined to the limitations of bag spaces, despite being objects designed for transporting items.

Heavy inspiration was taken from the lives of creative students in Product Design, Architecture, and Interior Design- fields of which individuals are required to bring various sets of items to their places of work, therefore resulting in different bags.

Design and Architecture have always had a goal of creating efficient spaces and comfortable lifestyles in regards to the limited spaces.

Various functions and experiences through transformable structures.
Space efficiency and maximizing existing volumes in to provide orderliness to the home.
However, these design philosophies of efficient spaces have have only stayed inside the home, and never been applied to objects taken outside of it.

Ideation
Ideation began finding a suitable typology of bag design which would embody the design philosophy of efficient spaces. Different methods of expansion, transformation, and attachment were applied onto different typologies.

Final ideas chosen were form-fitting expansion and ergonomic modes of carrying. These concepts would be applied into a work bag to accommodate the different items brought to one's school or work.
Refinement
Form and Function of the bag were streamlined into executing a snug fit of two compartments which would expand similar to a drawer when opened.

Other functions were added to better address the work experience of individuals with busy lifestyles, such as latches, slings, and pockets.
Expansion mechanism is assisted through the help of Fidlocks, a brand which manufactures magnetic locks and clips. These locks bring a satisfying feel to the user and allow a smooth, fast transition when locking and unlocking the expansion components.
Prototype
Patterns were drawn up to embody a snug fit of both components, which were complimented by Fidlocks to hold them together.

Chosen material is Nylon for its waterproof nature and strength, enforcing durability on the bag. The bag carries a Pellon skeleton to hold its shape and bring additional protection to objects within the bag.
Expansion
The Vertis Bag's main function is to expand its volume, granting the user more storage space when needed for heavier packing.
Carrying
Ergonomics are introduced to the user by allowing a swift and satisfying action of converting the shoulder strap of the bag into a sturdy handle strap for an easier carrying experience.
Packing
Packing experience is designed for easy access and exterior placeholders. This includes a main pocket, a stash pocket, and a sling for odd objects to be carried outside.
